For a fair while now, Google has dominated the web analytics market - certainly in the personal and small business sectors. They provide a very comprehensive data set for completely free, and it’s easy to set up if you have Google account (which almost everyone in the industry does).

I’ve personally used Google Analytics for a couple of years, but not had any projects online to really benefit from it.

A couple of months ago I was introduced to GoSquared real-time Analytics by a friend and my entire perception of analytics has changed.

CVs - HTML or PDF?

Today I’m updating my CV and it got me thinking about how best to provide it to potential employers.

Many web professionals have an online portfolio to show off their best pieces of work, introduce people to them personally, and generally convince employers to hire them. This is one of the main things a CV does, though in a slightly different way.

I’ve seen many people link to their CVs directly from their portfolio website, some as part of the site in HTML, some as separate PDF documents, and some as both.

How do you provide yours?

Three Weeks at Riot

Hidden away in Wood Street, in the depths of Bath’s city centre, lives the Riot HQ - A team of technical professionals who just want to “Get Drunk and Make Things”. In April, I was fortunate enough to spend three weeks interning at the HQ, eating Elliott’s bread, drinking from my official RiotHQ cup (pictured above), and occasionally writing code.
